Delete a single receipt — right now, in the app

This does not need us at all, and it takes effect immediately.

  1. Open the receiptTap it in the Receipts tab, or from the Home feed.
  2. Delete itUse the delete action on the receipt detail screen and confirm.
  3. It is goneThe receipt, all of its line items, its processing record and the original photo or PDF are removed. Your month’s totals update straight away.

Delete your entire account

There is no self-service delete button in the app yet, so whole-account deletion is a request you send us. We verify it and carry it out by hand.

Send the request

Email [email protected] from the email address you sign in with, with the subject Account deletion request. That address is how we confirm the request is really yours — a request from any other address cannot be actioned.

What happens next

  1. We acknowledge itWithin 5 business days, so you know it arrived.
  2. We confirm it is youBy replying to the address on the account. We may ask you to confirm once more, because this cannot be undone.
  3. We erase everythingWithin 30 days of confirmation, and we email you when it is done.

What gets deleted

All of it. Specifically:

  • Your account record — identifier, email address, currency and time zone.
  • Every receipt: merchant, date, category, totals, tax, tip and business flag.
  • Every line item on every receipt.
  • The raw extraction data stored with each receipt — the full response our OCR provider returned for it.
  • Every receipt image and PDF you captured, uploaded or imported, deleted from private storage.
  • Your monthly budgets for every category.
  • Every processing record for every scan.
  • Your sign-in identity with Clerk, our authentication provider — after this the account can no longer sign in, and signing up again creates a brand new, empty account.

What we keep, and why

  • A record of the deletion request itself — the request, the date and our confirmation. We need this to demonstrate we honoured it. It contains no receipt data.
  • Server logs already written before deletion, which contain request metadata such as IP addresses. These are not linked to your receipts and they age out on their normal short operational cycle.
  • Anything the law requires us to retain. If that ever applies to your account, we will tell you what and for how long.

This cannot be undone. There is no recovery window and no backup you can be restored from. If you want a copy of your receipts, ask us for an export before you request deletion — email [email protected] and we will send you your data.

Just want to stop using the app?

Signing out, or uninstalling Budgetify, leaves your data on our servers so that it is still there if you come back. Only a deletion request removes it. If in doubt, ask for deletion — it is the only option that actually erases anything.
